All Kerala Photo Graphers Association is an organization for the scores of professionals engaged in photography, videography and their allied fields. Currently, there are more than 12,000 members.

Started in 1984 by a group of photographers led by the Kochi-based Joseph Cherian, in the backdrop of scarcity and lack of quality in photography goods coupled with conditional sales.

The period has witnessed artistic, cultural and welfare activities with social responsibility from the activists united purely on professional grounds with an independent perspective.

Ours is the only organization in the country to have incorporated in its by-law a clause that prevents members from occupying the same post for more than two years in a row.

Through our efforts, we managed to get the Photography Service Tax imposed by the Union Government in 2001 revoked.

Convinced the state government to introduce a welfare fund, apart from other benefits, for the members.

Succeeded in bringing photography under the ambit of the Kerala Lalithakala Akademi’s annual awards and exhibitions.
